How to Balance Your Blood Sugar

Hot take of the day: Balancing your blood sugar isn’t that complicated.

What’s complicated is when people on the internet talk in circles and never actually tell you how to do it.

Balancing your blood sugar is all about making sure that your blood sugar doesn’t spike from eating a meal too high in sugar or just not paired together well.

This helps control blood sugar levels, which in turn impacts our cortisol levels, our hormones, and so much more in our bodies.

IF YOU WANT TO START WORKING ON BALANCING YOUR BLOOD SUGAR TODAY, START WITH THESE TIPS:

Eat meals containing protein, complex carbs, and healthy fats.

→ When you’re creating a meal, try thinking about it like you need one of each of the macronutrients. This will ensure you stay fuller for longer, your blood sugar won’t spike, and you also will get all the nutrients your body needs.

Go on a short walk after each meal

→ Going on a walk after your meal allows your body to digest the food and also not have a blood sugar spike because your body starts to use some of the food you just ate. Movement is medicine, and this is one of my favorite ways to balance my blood sugar.

Manage your stress

→ Stress is huge when it comes to your blood sugar. You need to make sure that you have healthy ways of coping with your stress while also ensuring that you’re trying to get rid of any unnecessary stressors as much as possible.

Get enough sleep

→ Sleep is so important. When we don’t get enough sleep, our hunger cues are all messed up, meaning we’ll crave foods we normally don’t and increase our overall hunger. This can affect your blood sugar levels greatly.

Eat more meals, less snacks

→ Eating well rounded, balanced meals allows you to stay fuller for longer, ensuring you’re eating each macro in the meal. Usually a snack is just carbohydrates or just fats, which can spike your blood sugar levels. Aim for more meals throughout the day instead of just chips or cookies.

These are just a few of my favorite ways to balance my blood sugar and make sure that it’s all in check!

They’re super simple, yet so effective, and ever since I started focusing on these, I have noticed such a big difference in how I feel day to day.
